New Water Restrictions in Effect in the City of Los Angeles
Due to the continuing drought in the city of Los Angeles, and strains on our mostly-imported water supply, the DWP will begin enforcement of Shortage Year Water Rates on June 1st, in order to reduce water usage in the City.
A new phase of sprinkler use restrictions will also go into effect on June 1st. The most important thing to understand about this new phase is that you are only allowed to water landscaping before 9am and after 4pm on Mondays and Thursdays ONLY.

IN MEMORY
Alicia Markulis
Alicia Markulis passed away on Friday, October 23rd.
Born on December 20, 1929, Alicia and her family settled in San Pedro when she was a young girl, and she lived there every since. Alicia attended Barton Hill Elementary School, Dana Junior High, and graduated from San Pedro High School in the class of 1948.
She was always extremely involved in the community, and remained very active with Barton Hill. She used her bilingual talents as a volunteer, translating for Spanish speaking students and teachers at the school. Alicia was also very active in the PTA, and served as president for some time.
Alicia and her husband Michael were both very proud San Pedrans who grew up together – they met when she was 13 and he was 11, and spent many happy years together. Michael was an LAPD officer for 37 years and also sat on the board of the Gang Alternatives Program.
Alicia is survived by husband Michael, daughter Elaine, son Mark, grandchildren Michael Mark, Matthew Mark, and Madeline Markie Marie; along with two sisters, Julia and Lucia. They will all miss her very, very much.
Services will be held at Green Hills Chapel in RPV this Saturday, October 31st at 1pm, followed by a 3pm celebration of Alicia’s life at Ports O’Call Restaurant in San Pedro.
